MEAM 2010 — machine design, intro machining
First time dealing with machining and machine design!
Things I learned and used:
- How to make clean CAD with the right relations and mates
- Intro level MasterCAM
- Using a 3-axis mill
- Standard practices like squaring off, centering/zero, speeds and feeds
- Using it by hand
- Using it with g-code from MasterCAM
- Using a lathe by hand
- Basic GD&T, fits
This class culminated in building and testing a heat engine. Early testing video of my engine is below. This is a couple minutes after removing heat away from the air chamber. I ended up getting second-fastest in class 🥳 (roughly 2070 RPM during final demo, after I spent a few hours during finals week running the engine in a bit 😛).
